Christmas at the Kemp

Price: FREE

This Christmas, begin the season at the Kemp Center for the Arts with a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, art projects, refreshments and gather with others to experience The Polar Express movie free to all.

Santa will be stopping off at the Kemp to take a nap just before he makes his appearance at the City Lights parade in historic Downtown Wichita Falls.   Mrs. Claus wants him to get some rest before the big evening event.  She may have to have the help of everyone there to join together, under the dome, to give a loud “HO, HO, HO” to wake Santa up!  Mrs. Claus is always excited for Santa to meet with each child.

While you are waiting for Santa to wake up you will enjoy creating your own artwork that will be perfect for your Christmas tree or to decorate your room for Christmas.  Included with the projects will be an opportunity to make your own Christmas Express train, an elf, and a bell bracelet to remind you that you truly do believe in Santa.

After all of the excitement of meeting with Santa, refreshments will be served.  You will enjoy Santa’s favorite treat of sugar cookies and hot cocoa.  Then get comfortable as we travel to the enchanted land of the North Pole with the movie “Polar Express”.

This free afternoon will all conclude about 5:00 pm just in time for the opening festivities of the dazzling City Lights!

Children's Book Reading at the Kemp

Join us at the Kemp at the Forum for a holiday children's book reading with John Falola, author of Bob Humbug.

To the outside city world, humbugs are a thing of the past. As the last of the once friendly, forest-dwelling creatures, Bob prefers to keep it that way. Holed up in his forgotten tree, he no longer knows how to live, laugh, and love those around him. And like the Grinches and Scrooges of before, he has no love for happy holidays! Yet, one winter, four city children come crashing into the humbug's life, stumbling upon the grumpiest grouch they have ever met! Thinking that Bob suffers from the winter blues, they come back every season to try and make a friend of the humbug. Will they finally succeed in their ambitious quest or will they be sent back to the city for good by mean old Bob?
